Here at Mckenna Rose Photography, we know that the ultimate goal on a wedding day is serving our clients and loving them well. One of the ways that we do this is by working with the entire TEAM of vendors our couples have hired to make everything go smoothly! We have had the pleasure of working with some incredible vendors in the past, and we so we are going to start a new monthly series to highlight some of our very favorites!
We are starting off this series with an incredible videographer, Holden Films. Holden is not only a visionary artist, but he is also so wonderful to work with! He makes our brides and grooms feel comfortable in front of the camera, he is fun and easy-going while still being incredibly professional, prompt, and creative, and of course – he creates films that are emotional, dramatic, and true to each couple’s story! If you’re considering having a videographer for your wedding day, we can’t recommend Holden Films enough!! Now, let’s to get to know Holden! And watch some of his talent!
Hey there! My name is Holden and I run Holden Films. Holden Films started a bit different than most wedding vendors. I had worked in the wedding industry for about five years, and I had a wedding planning client who was in need of a videographer. She had met with a few people, but she felt that she just didn’t connect with them. I went out, grabbed a camera and offered to film her wedding, mainly for the experience of trying something new. After I delivered her video, things just started taking off. My first year I shot 19 weddings, mainly all in Utah. This year we are scheduled for 34 weddings (and counting) across the U.S.
My style is what I call, “Cinematic Documentary”. It’s that happy place between someone directing you your entire wedding, and Dad running around with a camera. I capture the true moments and emotions of the day in a smooth, cinematic way. I do have a handful of staged shots that I like to get if time allows, but my mentality is, “You two already know how to love each other, you don’t need me to tell you how to show it.”
I LOVE outdoor, destination weddings.
When I get in a creative rut, I turn to my fellow creators. It can be easy to burn out from time to time in this field, but there are so many amazing content creators with awesome ideas that always blow my mind and motivate me on my next project.
(See, I told you Holden is a team player!!)
Raw emotions. I love taking the time to meet with my clients, establish a relationship and capture all the little things that are unique to them. Sometimes it’s as simple as a hand squeeze, but knowing what to look for, capturing and then delivering that moment always feels amazing. My main goal is for a couple to be able to look at their video 50 years from now and be able to say, “THAT is exactly how I remember it.” Nothing faked or forced, just the pure, raw emotions.
As someone who has worked on many wedding planning jobs, I am always looking for ways to help my couple and their families out throughout the day. If there is down time and we still need decor set, I’m your guy. Groomsmen’s car broke down? I’ll grab him. No Dr. Pepper at the reception? I got you. I am there to capture the wedding, but above everything else, I am there for the couple.
Embrace the chaos. Even the smoothest of weddings will have a hiccup, and that’s normal! Don’t let a small thing ruin your big day, just let me know what happened so we can get some video of it, and you’ll have something to look back on and laugh about later on. Every vendor you hire is there for you and to make your day perfect. PLEASE don’t ever hesitate to ask us to do something for you, even if it seems outside of our job description.
